Internship - Trade Department

Commercial intern at the Danish Trade Council in Lithuania

The Danish Embassy in Lithuania is looking for a commercial intern for a 6-month period in the autumn of 2018 from August 1st 2018 until January 31st 2019. The intern will deal with a wide range of work at the Embassy within the commercial area.

If you are a student with an interest in the Baltics/Eastern Europe, we can offer you a stay in Lithuania, which is an important partner for Denmark and offers an attractive market for the Danish companies.

The Embassy’s Trade Department is a part of the Trade Council, which is a part of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Trade Department is also a part of a regional cooperation in the Baltic-Finish sub-region within the Baltic-Nordic region and it assists Danish companies in export promotion and economic diplomacy in order to secure the best conditions for Danish companies at the Lithuanian and Baltic markets. The Embassy in Vilnius offers an exciting and supporting work environment, where you can test and develop your professional competencies. You will also have an opportunity to learn about life and culture in Lithuania and the other Baltic countries and live in the old town of Vilnius – one of the most charming European cities with many university students.

You must be a graduate student of a university in the field of economics, business, marketing and/or communication. We encourage Danish, Lithuanian as well as international students to apply. Foreign nationals may be offered an internship at the Embassy provided they have lived in Denmark for a number of years, are enrolled in an education programme at a Danish institution of higher education and are, at the time of application, residing in Denmark.

Assignments

The intern will work with both export and trade promotion as well as tasks related to the public diplomacy area. The tasks include, but are not limited to, solving specific commercial cases, export and sales promotion such as matchmaking and partner searches for Danish companies, implementation of the annual sales and marketing plan. The tasks can also include business assistance for Danish companies as well as market analysis, reviews and intelligence according to specific requests from Danish businesses, regularly reviewing and updating information about the market situation and business opportunities in Lithuania, preparation of meeting programs and assistance during visits to Lithuania and Denmark.

In addition, the intern will have the possibility to participate in various business related conferences, events, networking activities, business meetings, negotiations and business strategy implementation. The intern will have a unique opportunity to see the internationalisation processes of Danish companies from the inside and gain the knowledge of go-to-the market strategy implementation.

The aim of the internship

The internship will contribute to the student’s education and will be organized in a manner that will ensure credit transfer if the intern’s place of study permits this. Furthermore, the intern will have a possibility to establish a business network between both Lithuanian and Danish companies.

Expectations for the intern

To be considered you must be enrolled at a Danish institution of higher education with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Proficiency in English and, preferably, but not compulsory, also in Danish, overview, independence and good interpersonal skills are also requirements.
