Intern in the commercial department at the Danish Embassy in Lithuania

The Danish Embassy in Lithuania is seeking a commercial intern for a 6 month period in the spring of 2019 from February 1st 2019 until July 31st 2019. The intern will deal with a wide range of work at the embassy within the commercial area.

If you are a student with an interest in the Baltics/Eastern Europe we can offer you a stay in Lithuania which is an important partner for Denmark as well as an attractive market for Danish companies.

The embassy serves as a sparring partner and adviser for Danish companies which are considering exporting or partnership in Lithuania i.a. by finding relevant business partners and by making market surveys, preparing business plans and go-to-market strategies as well as with establishing of sales and recruitment of staff.

An internship with us will give you the opportunity to get a broad knowledge of Lithuania as the embassy covers all facets of Lithuanian society including politics, business and culture. The embassy is part of a regional cooperation among the Danish embassies in the Baltic-Finish sub-region within the Baltic-Nordic region and an internship with us will therefore also let you get acquainted with other countries in the region.

You must be a graduate student of a university in the field of economics and/or business. We encourage Danish, Lithuanian or international students to apply. Foreign nationals may be offered an internship at the Embassy provided they have lived in Denmark for a number of years, are enrolled in an education programme at a Danish institution of higher education and are, at the time of application, residing in Denmark.


The intern will work in close cooperation with two local commercial advisers in solving specific commercial cases within export, investment promotion and business assistance of Danish companies. The tasks include but are not limited to market analysis, reviews and intelligence according to specific requests from Danish businesses, partner searches for export and sub-supply, preparation of meeting programs and assistance during visits to Lithuania and Denmark as well as regularly reviewing and updating information about the market situation and business opportunities in Lithuania. In addition, the intern will be involved in the regional cooperation of Danish embassies in the Baltic-Finish sub-region within the Baltic-Nordic region which includes implementation of the annual sales and marketing plan and updating sector reports.

The aim of the internship

The internship will contribute to the student’s education and will be organized in a manner that will ensure credit transfer if the intern’s place of study permits this.

Expectations for the intern

To be considered you must be enrolled at a Danish institution of higher education with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Proficiency in English, overview, independence and good interpersonal skills are also requirements. Sufficient language skills in both danish and english is required.

In addition, the existence of security clearance is a requirement before starting the internship. The security clearance will be obtained by the embassy.

You can use your SU grant during the internship, as internship is unpaid. Actual costs of living in Vilnius are somewhat lower than in Denmark.
